Over the last couple of weeks, we have been traveling through France with our wonderful friends Kevin and Jennifer, and new friends Susan and Gary. Our travels took us through Reims, (wonderful cathedral, wonderful champagne, but the city is rather blah), to Chantilly, (like Woodside on steroids, lots of money and horses), to Chablis, (lovely little town at the top of the Burgandy region and home to the wonderful Chablis wine - nothing like California Chablis, it's good!), to Beaune and Nuits St. George, (where we followed the recommendation of the sommelier at our hotel and discovered a wonderful little family run winery - so small that after tasting and choosing our purchases, the wife of the wine maker retrieved them from the cellar and added the aluminum cap and label by hand to each bottle), and then down to the Luberon in Provence where we stayed several days, enjoyed several bike rides and lots and lots of fantastic food and wine. There is no photo album for this trip, I think I was too busy tasting wine, however, here's a shot from the hotel room window out into the Luberon.

The award for highlight of the trip, however is tied between Stephen, Kevin and Jennifer for their outstanding ascent of Mont Ventoux . Yes, on bicycles!! Yes, just like on the Tour de France!! Nice work guys, I'm still in awe!
Runner up for highlight of the trip award must go to the spectular disaster created when Stephen and I drove our car with the bikes on top through the toll booth lane clearly marked "no cars with bikes on top". Here's a pic to commemorate it, may it be a lesson to all!!

** miraculously, the bikes survived the flight. The roof rack, however, did not fare so well.
We're looking forward to seeing the rest of you sometime soon!
